ASHLEY LEWIS
Hey, Ashley!
Here are three photos sets from more recents shoots to give you an idea of the photography directions I will be heading for the upcoming year.
FIRST TWO SETS: These photos are from two former studios a few years ago. The process here is one I have been developing gradually for several years now. Makeup, hair, and clothes are neutral and simple. The black and white filters applied are also my own. The color photo in the second set is straight from the camera for comparison. Both models had zero previous modeling experience. Each shoot was two hours.
THIRD SET: These photos are from the first modeling photo shoot in the current studio - more of a technical shoot allowing me to stretch out into new studio equipment. During the afternoon we had two clothing and makeup changes. The model has significant modeling experience. The total time of the shoot including breaks and changes was about four hours.
FOURTH SET: The Rojo Project is easily the highlight of my years as a photographer. The restaurant celebrated 20 years on Highland Avenue this past summer. Below is about a fourth of the over 120 original bartenders, servers, and regulars who sat for individual shoots over a period of two months. The lighting was set for black-and-white character portraits. The challenge was in a 2-3 minute sitting to put each person at ease so as to capture more of the subject’s personality rather than simply a smiling face for a school yearbook photo. The bottom photo is an iPhone capture of the final display after hours at the restaurant.
Let me know your thoughts.
